    Larry Santana: Preserving Culture Through Visual Arts

     

    Larry Santana is a renowned artist dedicated to preserving and showcasing Papua New Guinea's cultural heritage through visual arts. With over four decades of experience, his work spans various roles from graphic artist to educator and community leader.

     

    Larry's journey began in Longwuk Village, East Sepik Province, and led him to Madang, where he has been a lifelong resident. He completed his education at Goroka Technical College in 1981, which laid the foundation for his distinguished career.

     

    His professional experience includes over 20 years as a graphic artist, teaching at Tusbab Secondary School, and coordinating adult literacy programs with World Vision. Larry also served as an Assistant Tutor in Visual Arts at the University of Goroka.

     

    Larry's artistic achievements are notable, with exhibitions in Germany, Australia, and the USA, as well as numerous local and international group shows. He continues to inspire as a subsistence farmer in Madang, blending traditional and modern influences in his art.
